Crazy Designs: Chewing Gum Stilettos

Chewing Gum Stilettos designed by Kobi Levi

I found these stilettos quite a while ago but came across them again while looking in my photo album. Not something I would wear but I like when designers get creative or innovative. I might want to walk on a pencil or a ruler stilletto. Crazy ?

It may have something to do with me being a collector of nothing important and usually living in a cluttered choas but....I LOVE THIS! Doc Martens styled beautifully.

I believe this is a close up from a Marchesa collection.
I'm nearly sure but I didn't label this picture and can't remember the collection...whoops

This is a randomly selected collection of details and things. I really meant to get a picture of Abbey in her Lucia Ilaria Sunglasses on the street but I couldn't seem to save the picture. Anyways, details are just as important as the bigger picture and I just thought I'd share some with you.

Style Spotlight: Drew Barrymore

I know I never seem to be keeping up with what's new or who's wearing what anymore...I blame it on a lack of inspiration but mostly laziness.

I know this is not recent but I'm really loving these photos of Drew Barrymore at The-Beauty Detox Solution Book Launch.
Her makeup and styling is perfection. Keri Hilson can't pull off the one earring trend but Drew can. I love her as a red head and I love how she styled her glittery jacket in such a casual way

Hockney Inspired Poetry

I piece her together,

Try to capture every component,

The warmth of the resin is deeply rooted a reflection her family tree,

When she looks at me,

I look into them and see our history together,

As long as each strand of her flowing hair,

If she ever cuts it short I’ll carry this image with me,

Until it’s growth reflects our relationship,

Hours into days, days into months, months into years,

Watching her lying there every morning,

Serene, rays of light slowly, tenderly kissing her skin,

Just like each image does,

Never intrusive, ever elusive giving to get what it wants,

Capturing the soul of a moment only to release it,

Watching it float past consciousness to find rest on her breast,

Recalled emotional imagery as real as the heart beat they cover,

She consumes it to satisfy her hunger for a companion,

Call me a four course lover,

Starting with appetizing imagery,

Pouring warm words through her soul,

She sips cautiously,

Trying to cool down the warmth experienced,

Sometimes blowing too hard so that words will turn cold,

But cool heads prevail cleaning the bitter palette of her past with sincerity,

Inciting insatiable appetites for character, connection, and communication,

The legs any body of worth stands on,

Two pillars of trust, only bent and broken when I ask her to pose in awkward positions,

Piecing her together to capture every element of her being,

As she lies there every morning.

I found the jackpot after finding this great poem on tumblr that accompanied this beautiful David Hockney inspired photograph. Both are equally beautiful and made my day. I love art.

Make Up For Ever: First Untouched Makeup Ad + Video

I've been hearing about the new Make Up For Ever Ads for a while but I'm glad that I saw it in person yesterday in Instyle. An untouched photo in the glamourized lives we live in ? Unheard of.

Many may think that it is a publicity stunt...and I agree it is. I'm sure many people will buy or even consider buying their products because of their "untouched" ad but I think its the first step to a great thing. I'm tired of magazines and brands heavily editing models to "fit their view".  Maybe in the near future we may have less photoshop and more "real size" "natural" looking models rather than amazon godesses we know we'll never be.

One thing that I don't like about the new ads is that the poses look too bland and literal. Almost like "not only is this not photoshopped but I took this photo myself"

Hopefully this will put more emphasize on photographers and every other person that goes into the behind the scene of photoshoot and not the photoshop happy editors who have to "fix a girls flaws". (below I have a few controversial covers)

Beyonce's skin colour dramatically changes from lightskin to a darker skin.

I'm going to go ahead and say that Ralph Lauren has THE WORST PHOTOSHOPPED AD that I have ever seen. The model Filippa Hamilton is pictured below.

What do you think of the new untouched ads ?
Is it something that you would like to see more or less of in the future?

How To: Jumpsuits & Rompers (Subscriber Request) Part 1

This is a request from a new friend and subscriber mylyfe-mystoryShe is 5`2 and is wondering how on earth she can pull off the jumpsuit/romper trend.

ROMPERS
A Romper is simply a onesie with shorts attached. Many people think that this trend should be left to the kids but with these styling tips I think you'll agree that it can work for everyone.

I personally think that this trend can be more easily pulled off for petite girls than a jumpsuit. Chances are there is less of a chance that it will swallow up your size.

FIT
I believe that the fit of a romper is most important because it is something that can look all too wrong if not done right.

Curvy Girls

Romper for the Curvy Girl

Something to de-emphasize your rear could be a skirt (like in the photo above) or a nice belt to emphasize your waist.

Petite or Leggy Girl

Romper for girls with long legsRomper for the Career Girl

Size is less of a problem for you so you can experiment more with textures and colours.
The pairing of shorts and heels will do wonders for you. Wear a romper if you want your legs to be the center of attention.

Warning: Do not overaccessorize ! It will look too forced and/or childish.

STYLE
My best advice would be to look at a romper not as a complicated object or onesie but as an individual piece that can be combined with other basics to make a trendy outfit.
  • For a day time look: pair with minimal accessories and stick to a casual fabric like cotton.
  • If your transitioning your romper from day to night: step up your outfit with a blazer and some heels.
  • For a night time look: try a silky material. Please note: watch the fit with this material if it does not fit right or hits you in the wrong places...DONT WEAR IT !
I would also suggest a good belt. Rompers usually come with a little dingy string in the front and your belt could make you blazer a lot more high fashion

Someone Like You - Adele @ Brit Awards

Before I go to bed I thought I'd share a live video of Adele singing one of the songs I'm really liking right now called: Someone Like You.

Adele always seems to have the perfect song for love, heartbreak, and disappointment. If you've ever had a broken heart, your about to remember it right now.

Sidenote: She is such a beautiful girl and a wonderful singer, I can only hope to see her live someday.
